Traffic switch on U.S. 50/400 four-lane expansion project in Ford/ Gray counties under way

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the four-lane expansion project along U.S. Highway 50/U.S. Highway 400 in Gray County and Ford County has switched traffic onto the newly constructed westbound lanes to reconstruct the eastbound lanes.

During the eastbound lane reconstruction, traffic will be carried on the newly constructed westbound lanes. This change will affect county roads that intersect with U.S. 50/400 at times.

Friday, Gov. Laura Kelly announced Kansas has garnered Area Development Magazine’s coveted Gold Shovel Award for the fourth year in a row. The latest accolade – without precedent in state history – reflects the economic development success the state has experienced under the Kelly Administration.

Resurfacing project along K-23 under way in Gray County

A resurfacing project is underway along Kansas Highway 23 from the south city limits of Cimarron to the U.S. Highway 56 junction in Gray County. The project’s length is approximately 11.5 miles.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, this project will involve resurfacing K-23 in Gray County.

Seward County announces scholarship recipients

The Seward County Employee Committee awarded two scholarships of $400 each to local students at Monday’s county commission meeting.

The first scholarship went to Mya Fabbro, daughter of Angela Davis, who works as a nurse in the Seward County Jail. Fabbro comes from a large health care family, and she is pursuing the same field – radiologic technology.

Administrator April Warden read a statement from Seward County Community College, where Fabbro currently attends.
