The Kansas Department of Transportation is alerting the public to a scam involving fraudulent text messages, known as smishing, that falsely claim to be from KDOT and demand payment for unpaid tolls.
Do not click on the link. It is not a KDOT Web site. Clicking the link in the text can expose victims to financial fraud, allowing scammers access to bank accounts and personal data.
Alicia Hidalgo has been serving as Liberal’s city clerk since 2016 and in that time, she has received multiple recognitions and seen many projects happen in the community.
More recently, Hidalgo was nominated not only to be vice chair of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Conference, but was also selected to be a member of the IIMC Ideal Task Force.
The USD 480 school board will be asked to approve multiple items at its next meeting Monday evening. Monday’s meeting will be in Room C107 of the Liberal High School East Campus.
Up first for discussion will be the HVAC Connected Controls service agreement renewal.
At a time when heavy winds have been kicking up across Southwest Kansas, with gusts in excess of 60 miles an hour, Seward County officials are again visiting the possibility of bringing wind energy to the county.
Monday, county commissioners hosted a special meeting to address concerns from the board and local landowners and to hear from officials with Invenergy, the Denver-based company heading up the potential project.
Before that, though, Administrator April Warden gave a brief review of the history of wind energy discussions in Seward County.
After Administrator April Warden reviewed what had taken place concerning wind discussions prior to Monday’s meeting, officials with Invenergy took the mic and talked about where things go from here.
Renewable Development Manager Jana Matthews said the project also has a conditional use permit approved in 2015.
“With that permit came a suite of agreements similar to this,” she said. “A lot has changed in the last 15 years. Our project boundary has been updated. We’re really trying to focus on the northeast part of Seward County right now.”
