ULYSSES – Jorge Alonso Heredia, 71, died Monday, March 9, 2026 in Garden City. 

He was born Feb. 4, 1955 to Servando and Marianita Lascano De Heredia.

He grew up in Mexico before moving to Colorado at the age of 15 years old.

Roberta J. Babb, 84, died Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.

She was born July 27, 1941 to Robert and Mary (Joy) Young. 

She graduated from Fowler High School. 

She married John E. Babb. After several years of marriage, the couple later divorced.

ROGER KREGER

FOWLER – Roger D. Kreger, 73, died Friday, March 6, 2026.

He was born Dec. 23, 1952, to Victor and Velora Mae Kreger.  

He graduated from Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyo. in 1971.  While in high school, he was a member of National Honor Society and in four sports per year for four years. He then enrolled at Montana State University  to study medicine and entered the four year AFRPTC program. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in June, 1975, along with a B.S. degree in medical technology.  During his four years of active duty, he was stationed at Castle AFB near Merced, Calif., and at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. At Mountain Home he was CATCO, Chief Air Traffic Control Officer. He separated in 1980 at the rank of Captain.

ULYSSES – Delores Jean (Bowers) Currier, 88, died Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born Dec. 13, 1937 to Charles and Mabel (Hickman) Bowers.

She graduate from high school in Laverne, Okla. in May 1956. She then attended Northwestern State College and graduated in May 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education (minor in physical education) and finished her master’s degree in 1970, followed by a degree in gifted education in May of 1980 through Wichita State University.

JERRY WHISENHUNT

Jerry Wayne Whisenhunt, 73, died Monday, March 9, 2026 at Wheatridge Care Park Nursing Home in Liberal.  

He was born April 29, 1952 to Howard and Nell (Renfroe) Whisenhunt.

He was a graduate of Liberal High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.
