The Lady Redskin swim team turned in a competitive showing Friday at the Salina Swimming Invitational, finishing ninth overall out of 12 teams with 105 team points in a deep and talented field.
The Lady Red were powered by strong relay performances throughout the meet, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Nathalie Ortega, Jordyn Myers, Jyzelle Juarez, and Alexis Ugalde posted a time of 2:29.76.
Liberal continued to find success in relays when the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jyzelle Juarez, Lyla Anderson, Nathalie Ortega, and Alexis Ugalde placed eighth with a time of 4:59.47.

The Redskins traveled to Cimarron Friday and swept a double header to move to 8-8 on the season.
The Redskins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Blue Jays responded with two runs in the second and a run in the third to take a 3-1 lead.
Liberal pushed a run across the plate in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2.
Eathan Hernandez pitched the first three-and-two-thirds innings before being relieved by Bentley Betts, who threw a scoreless inning and a third.

Kye Morris pitched a two-hit shutout against Garden City Tuesday that gave the Redskins a 2-0 victory.
The win moved the Redskins to 6-8 on the season and 1-3 in the WAC.
Blayden Betts drove in Ethan Olmstead in the first inning to give the Redskins a 1-0 lead, and Morris took over from there, making that one run lead stand until the bottom of the fifth when Betts drove Jonathan Santos home with a double to give the Redskins a 2-0 lead.

The young Lady Redskins continued to earn experience on the field in a tough Western Athletic Conference, and Liberal fell to Garden City 11-2.
The Lady Redskins had a one-run lead after the first inning, but errors started to mount, and the Lady Buffaloes were able to score five runs in the second, another five in the third and a run in the fourth to take an 11-1 lead.
The Lady Redskins avoided the run rule by scoring a run in the fifth.
Devaney Carter pitched a complete game and only allowed one earned run while striking out four and not allowing a walk.

Monday, the JV boys tennis team competed against seven teams at Dodge City. The team continued to dominate at the JV level. Liberal took first for the fifth time this season.
