Liberal traveled top Holcomb Tuesday and earned a split with the Longhorns.

The Redskins won Game 1 by run rule, 14-2.

Kye Morris pitched five shutout innings, and after the Redskin batters couldn’t push a run across the plate in the first three innings, they erupted for seven runs in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.

Lady Red soccer drops season opener to Guymon

Lily Guy scored Liberal’s lone goal in the season opener against the Guymon Lady Tigers Tuesday at Redskin Field, but it wasn’t enough in a 2-1 loss.

Liberal plays Wichita Classical in Wichita Tuesday.

Redskin baseball starts season 1-1

The Redskin baseball team started the season with a pair of games on the road and came away with a 1-1 record.

Liberal opened with an 8-5 loss to Ark City.

The Bulldogs started strong with three first-inning runs off starter Blayden Betts.

Liberal Wrestling Club competes at State

Eight Liberal Wrestling Club members started their Spring Break in Topeka for the

USAWKS State Championship. To qualify for the tournament, wrestlers had to place in the top four at their district tournament.

The tournament began on Friday, March 13 with the girls competition. Liberal was represented by Kendall Mosttler, 8U 75 pounds, and Sofia Torres, 12U 85 pounds. Both girls pinned their first opponents with a strong start to the day. Mosttler ended the tournament 1-2 with her first time at State. Torres finished 2-2 with both wins by pin.

Saints finish season with loss to Barton

The Barton Cougars had too much for the Seward County Saints Friday afternoon.  In a contentious semifinal game played on Barton’s home court. Barton’s Cougars roared to a 102-83 win over the visiting Seward County Saints.  Seward finishes 20-13.

The Saints jumped out to leads of 5-0 and 8-3.  Barton led 16-11 and led 18-13 with 11:16 to play.  Barton led 25-13 before the Saints cut the lead to 31-24 on a Bailey Milligan three pointer with 6:43 to play in the half.  Barton led 41-25 with 2:57 to play in the half.  Barton led 45-23 and led 45-28 at the half.  Barton’s lead ballooned to 56-33.  The Cougars led 59-36 with 14:38 to play.  Barton took their biggest lead of 24 at 65-41.  The Cougars roared their way to an 81-58 lead with 7:38 to play.
