Mary Florence Brinton,91, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 in Topeka.
Born Oct. 22, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio, Mary dedicated more than 30 years of her life to teaching as a middle school teacher in Salt Lake City and Liberal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Brinton, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage; her siblings: Barbara Knowlton, Harold James Weaver Jr., Jacquelin Diane Smith, and Margaret Rachel Helen Jutkins; and her parents, Rev. Canon Harold James and Margaret Weaver.
Mary leaves behind her sister, Janet Ohlemeier; and an extended family of 25 nieces and nephews, whom she regarded as her own children.
ULYSSES – Ronnie Adrian Smith, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2024 at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses.
He was born Dec. 5, 1949 to George and Norma Jean (Meyer) Smith.
He married Jeryl Annette Flinn April 12, 1980. She survives.
He graduated from Ulysses High school in 1968. He attended Hutchinson Community College for a semester then worked as a welder’s assistant in Texas.
He enlisted in the United States Army serving three years, including Vietnam and Germany. After an honorable discharge, he returned to college and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and a master’s degree in administration and secondary education from Fort Hays State University.
ULYSSES – Nancy Kay Smith, 79, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at her home in Grant County.
She was born April 23, 1946 to Joe Thomas “J.T.” and Louise (Davis) Fisher.
She grew up in Altus, Okla., where she also graduated from high school. She continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla., earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She later earned her nurse practitioner degree from the University of Texas.
She worked for the State of Oklahoma – County Health for Women for several years.
