Dodge City — The Liberal High School Lady Redskins golf team traveled to Dodge City Thursday to participate in the Dodge City JV Girls Golf Tournament. Since the Lady Redskins’ schedule was not full, Coach Bert Luallen made the decision to take his entire squad, minus one player who was ill, to Dodge City. The tournament had a field of 30 golfers from the five WAC schools.

The Eisenhower Warriors football teams opened the season at home against the Dodge City Cardinals, but the Warriors struggled on defense and dropped both games.

The seventh grade opened the season and committed an early turnover that allowed the Cardinals to take an early lead.

The Warriors had moments of moving the ball, but penalties and turnovers ended drives.

The Warrior seventh scored a safety and added a touchdown but fell 36-10.

The Warrior eighth graders also struggled on defense and allowed Dodge City to take an early lead before dropping the game 44-14.

The Seymour Rogers Apaches opened their season on the road to face Dodge City Comanche.

The seventh grade opened the evening when Jonathan Morales broke loose on the outside edge to find the end zone.

Carl Dean and Jonathan Morales were able to find the end zone a total of seven times in the outing with the help of the whole seventh grade line to lead the way.

The Liberal Redskins moved to 3-0 and 1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win at home against Great Bend.

Playing their third game in four days and first one at home, it took the boys soccer team a few minutes to find their legs.

Great Bend came out and was determined to try to make the game physical and the Redskins showed they could play that style as well.
