Redskins run away with 7-1 win

The Liberal High School boys soccer team started the second half of the season with a 7-1 win over Lamar.

Liberal dominated possession of the ball and had it on Lamar’s side of the field most of the game. Scoring got started early when Ariel Gaytan found the back of the net after getting a rebounded shot at 2:09 into the half.

Then the Redskins put on a display their ability to control the game with their passing and touch to find many opportunities to score. At the 23:02 mark Gaytan got his second goal of the half after Issac Erives used his speed to make a long run down the side and crossed it from the right.

Warriors drop a pair to Comanche

The Eisenhower Warriors dropped a pair of games to Dodge City Comanche Friday.

The seventh grade Warriors fell behind early 16-0 before breaking a kickoff return for a touchdown to cut the lead to 16-6. But the Coyotes responded with a kickoff return for a touchdown to push the lead to 24-6.

The Warrior offense struggled to move the ball against the Coyotes, and Comanche used a strong sweep to move the ball downfield and build a 36-6 lead at half.

Nothing changed in the second half, and the Warriors lost.

The eight grade Warriors found themselves in a defensive battle and fell 6-0.

Warriors run at Kepley

The Eisenhower Middle School Warriors cross country team competed at the Kepley Tuesday.

The Warriors ran some of their fastest times of the season so far. The 7th grade girls placed 3rd as a team, and the 8th grade boys placed 2nd.

Redskin soccer moves to 7-1 with 5-2 win over Life Prep

After their first loss of the season last Thursday against Garden City the Liberal High School soccer team looked to bounce back against Life Prep.

The Redskins jumped on the scoreboard first with Gio Berrera finding the net 4:44 into the half with a nice assist from D’Alessadro Chavira.

Unfortunately after the nice start the Redskins started to struggle getting anything put together. At the 23:03 mark Josh Garcia found Diego Pavia just outside the box for the Redskins second goal. The Redskins continued to try to find their rhythm with a couple starters out due to injury.

Redskins overcome slow start to rout Tigers, 52-13

GUYMON, Okla. — The Guymon Tigers couldn’t have asked for a better start to Friday’s game against Liberal, but once the Redskins turned a corner, they never looked back in a 52-13 Redskin win.

The first three minutes were a disaster for the Redskins. Guymon kicked off a short bloop, and the Redskins didn’t cover the ball. Guymon fell on the loose ball and three plays later reached the end zone for a 7-0 lead.
