Apaches sweep Dodge City

The eighth grade Apaches took on Dodge City Middle School Thursday. The Apaches won the game 33-28. The Apaches were led by Darion Denton with 15 points six rebounds and three steals.

There were two other major contributors for the Apaches with nine points, six rebounds and two assists from Francisco Cardenas and seven points and two steals from Xaadin Navarro. The Apaches will look to ride the momentum of the win this Saturday against Great Bend and Hays.

Saints finish strong, post 76-66 win over Thunderbirds

The Seward County Saints opened the second half of conference play with a 76-66 win over Cloud County Community College Wednesday at the Greenhouse.

The Saints snapped a seven-game losing streak and posted their first victory since December, a 93-86 overtime win at Dodge City. Seward improved to 2-11 in the Jayhawk Conference and 3-15 overall.

Lady Saints coast to a 68-41 triumph over Lady T-Birds

The Seward County Community College Lady Saints cruised past Cloud County Community College, 68-41, Wednesday at the Greenhouse.

The Lady Saints improved to 8-5 in the Jayhawk Conference and 13-6 overall. Seward hosts Cowley at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Greenhouse. The Gameday Sponsor is Community Bank.

Lopez takes first in Ellis

Two members of Liberal Wrestling Club traveled to Ellis, KS for the annual Ellis Open tournament Saturday.

Easton Lopez, 6U, took first place in the 37 pound bracket. He had thre pins for the day with times of 2:25, 1:50 and as quick as 20 seconds.

Lopez also had a tech fall in 1:21, which was No. 6 for the fastest tech fall in the tournament.

Lady Saints survive on last-second shot, post 52-50 win over Broncbusters

Ari Gordon's go-ahead basket with seconds remaining lifted the Seward County Community College women's basketball team to a 52-50 victory at Garden City Community College Saturday.

The Lady Saints led all the way until the final minute of the game when the Broncbusters hit a three-pointer and took a 50-49 lead with 24 seconds remaining. It was Garden City's first lead of the game.
