The Seward County Community College men’s basketball team suffered a tough overtime loss at Cloud County Community College, 74-69, Wednesday.
Seward dropped to 0-1 in conference play and 1-5 overall on the season. The Saints next play at Cowley College at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Liberal Unified Bowling team saved its best for last — twice.
Last year, the team bowled its best at the State Tournament and took second, and this year the team set a new high at the end of the season to finish third in the state.
Liberal finished second with a score of 843 last year, and this year the Redskins bowled 936 for third.
TURPIN, Okla.—Big plays on defense and special teams helped the Turpin Cardinals overcome a sluggish start on their way to a 52-6, mercy-rule victory over the Waurika Eagles in the first round of the Class B1 playoffs.
The Waurika Eagles opened the game with a long, time-consuming drive that started at their 30. The Turpin defense was finally able to buckle down and get the stop they needed on fourth down at the Turpin two-yard line.
Kylee Hunt had a game-high 23 points and Ari Gordon added 15 points to power the Seward County Community College women’s basketball team to an 82-64 triumph over Northeastern Junior College on Monday at the Greenhouse.
The Lady Saints improved to 4-1 and start Jayhawk Conference play on Wednesday at Cloud County.
The Seward County Community College men's basketball team was down early and could not recover, falling to Eastern Arizona College, 100-83, in a non-conference loss Wednesday at the Greenhouse.
The Saints remain winless on the season at 0-3.
