Lady Red dominated Wichita South in the second round of tournament play, earning a mercy-rule victory in a high-powered offensive performance. The team came out aggressive and never let up, moving the ball well and capitalizing on scoring opportunities throughout the first half.

Due to mercy rule, the game was complete after first half. Liberal will be back in action in the final round of the Titan Classic against Winfield at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Liberal falls to Hays 9-1

Fielding errors plagued the Liberal Lady Redskin softball team in a 9-1 loss to Hays Thursday.

Delaney Carter pitched all seven innings and allowed nine runs, but only one of those were earned. She gave up eight hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

The Lady Redskins only managed three hits in the loss with a double from Brooklyn Short and singles from Haiden Lyon and Allie Champion.

The Lady Redskins will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Great Bend.

Lady Red swim team finishes 2nd at Garden City

The Lady Redskin swim team traveled to Garden City and delivered a strong performance, finishing second overall with contributions across all events. The team showed great improvement from returning swimmers while also gaining valuable experience for many new athletes. Key relay finishes included a 3rd place finish in the 200 medley relay (Alexis Ugalde, Jordyn Myers, Yaretxi Delacruz, Layla Piedra) and a 3rd place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (Alexis Ugalde, Layla Piedra, Lyla Anderson, Nathalie Ortega), along with a 4th place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (Nathalie Ortega, Jordyn Myers, Daniyelle Mendoza, Alexis Ugalde).

Liberal demonstrated excellent depth throughout the meet, especially in the 50 freestyle and relay events, where numerous exhibition swims provided opportunities for growth and development.

Redskin baseball drops pair to Buffs

The Liberal Redskins baseball team moved to 4-4 after dropping a pair of Western Athletic Conference road games to Garden City Tuesday.

Liberal had a strong pitching performance from Kye Morris in Game 1 but could not provide run support in a 3-1 loss.

Morris threw six innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Despite only allowing three runs, the Redskins couldn’t get production from the offense and only managed to score one run on four hits.
