District 4 hosted its Championship Tournament in Hays over the weekend of March 6 and 7. Liberal Wrestling Club took 32 wrestlers to the tournament. The top 4 from each weight class had the opportunity to advance to State tournament that took place in Topeka March 13 through 15.

Claiming the District 4 Championship title for 14U boys 100 pounds was Liberal’s, Lill Osborn. He entered the tournament seeded No. 1 and did not let that title get away from him. “We are so proud of Lill. He works hard during his time on the mat and is a great leader for our club to have. He is very deserving!” said Coach Krista Holcomb.

Saints advance to Region 6 Final Four after win over Coffeyville

COFFEYVILLE – Milestones have become a theme for the Seward County Saints this season, and another one arrived Wednesday night as the fifth-seeded Saints advanced to the Region 6 Semifinals for the first time since the 2018-19 season with an 84-75 win over four-seed Coffeyville at Nellis Hall.

Seward (20-12) advances to the Region 6 semifinals on Friday at 3 p.m., taking on host school and one-seeded Barton Community College at Fleske Fieldhouse. The winner plays in the championship on Saturday for a berth in the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship in Hutchinson.

The Saints led from start to finish as they took down the Red Ravens (21-10) on their home floor. It marks Seward's first win in Coffeyville since 2010.

COFFEYVILLE – The fifth-seeded Seward County Lady Saints suffered an 87-62 loss to the fourth-seeded Coffeyville Red Ravens in the Region 6 Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening at Nellis Hall.

Seward closes its season out with a 20-12 overall record, 14-11 in league play. The Lady Saints fell to Coffeyville on the road in the quarterfinals for a second consecutive season. The Red Ravens (23-8) advance to the semifinals and will take on one-seed Butler on Friday in Great Bend.

The Lady Saints battled in the first quarter with a Tyniah Smith jumper giving Seward an 11-9 lead at the 4:13 mark. There were multiple ties and lead changes in the first quarter. Coffeyville outscored the Lady Saints 9-2 the rest of the way to lead 18-13 after one.

Lady Redskin rally falls short in Sub-State championship loss to Topeka

Trailing most of the night in the Sub State championship, the Lady Redskins finally tied Topeka 31-31 in the third quarter, but they could never take the lead and faltered down the stretch in a 65-58 loss to end their season.

Topeka pushed the ball inside early to Hailey Caryl who found her way to the basket for point blank shots, and the Lady Trojans scored on their first four possessions to take na early lead.

Saints earn sweep over Barton

The Seward County baseball squad picked up a pair of wins over  the 23rd-ranked Barton Cougars at Lawson-Biggs Field Thursday, sweeping the road doubleheader from the Cougars with wins of 5-3 in game one and 9-3 in game two.
