ULYSSES – Vivian Smith, 77, died Thursday, April 3, 2025 at her home in Ulysses. 

She was born March 19, 1948 to Charles and Mary (Delong) Howard. 

After graduating high school in Ulysses in 1966, she continued her education at Panhandle State University.

After moving to Ulysses, she worked at IGA and Big R Standard Supply until retirement.

ULYSSES – Jacob M. Collum, 49, died Nov. 8, 2024, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was born Aug. 15, 1975 to Jesse and Robin (Rundell) Collum Jr.

Survivors include his parents; brother, Jesse Collum III, Las Vegas; two nephews; and many aunts and uncles.

PLAINS – Terry Lynn Shelton, 60, died Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Dec. 28, 1964 to Wayne and Theresa (Williams) Collins.  

She married Mike E. Shelton Aug. 12, 1989. They later divorced.

Merle Dean Roberts, 88, passed away February 10, 2025 in Siloam Springs, Ark.

He was born in Liberal, KS, June 16, 1936 to Tom and Grace Roberts.

Merle spent his boyhood mowing for the family business, farming and working in the family business, Robert´s Machine Shop, as well as participating in sports and many school activities.
