Obituaries

ULYSSES – Mike Fanning, 66, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin. 

He was born Nov. 20, 1958 to Woodrow and Margaret (McKinney) Fanning. 

He married DeDee Carlock March 16, 1995. She survives.

He graduated from Lakin High School. 

Jon Kleiner, 54, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025 at his home in Liberal.

He was born April 18, 1970 to Eric and Yvonne (Bushart) Kleiner at Lackland Air Force Base Hospital in San Antonio.

He graduated high school in Ft. Worth, Texas and later went on to obtain his associate’s degree.

Darrell Wayne Bryan, 62, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 at his home in Tyrone, Okla.

He was born Sept. 12, 1962 to Larry and Judy (McDaniel) Bryan in Liberal.

He was a graduate of Tyrone High School with the Class of 1980. He went on to obtain his agricultural certification through the Liberal Area Votech in 1981.

Ashton J. Baier, 36, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2025 in Wichita.

He was born Nov. 3, 1988 to Jay and Brenda (Stevenson) Baier.

He worked many years as an employee of Walmart in Liberal. He loved cheering on local sports teams, especially Liberal High School Football, Seward County Saints Basketball and the Liberal Bee Jays Baseball. He also cheered for the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers.
