ARKANSAS CITY – Kimora Fagan erupted for a career-high 25 points and the Lady Saints sunk 13 threes as they rolled to a 73-52 win at W.S. Scott Auditorium on Wednesday evening.

Seward (13-4, 8-3 KJCCC) was firing on all cylinders as they knocked down 13-28 (46.4 percent) from distance and held Cowley (9-8, 5-6) to 23.2 percent (13-56) shooting from the field. Both the percentage and field goals made were season-lows for the Tigers. Seward has now won four straight over the Tigers in Arkansas City.

After a hard hit in Woodward, Okla., left the Lady Redskins shorthanded without Shamari Lewis for most of the game, the Lady Redskins returned to The Big House, and Lewis returned to the line-up in a key Western Athletic Conference game against Garden City Tuesday, and the Lady Redskins came away with a 59-54 win.

The defenses dominated early, and the Lady Redskins were able to establish a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Mia Hannagan kept the Lady Buffaloes close in the second quarter by draining three threes while Kiley Rhine used a pair of drives to the basket and a three to answer for the Lady Redskins. Devaney Carter came off the bench to drain a three for Liberal, and by halftime the Buffaloes trimmed Liberal’s lead to 26-25 at half.

The first three quarters ended with buzzer-beating baskets by both Garden City and Liberal Tuesday in The Big House, but the one shot Liberal needed at the final buzzer clanked off the rim, and the Redskins fell 74-71.

Garden City used four three pointers in the first quarter including a half court shot that banked in at the buzzer to build a 20-11 lead.

The Redskins defended the perimeter better in the second quarter and only allowed one three pointer in the second quarter. But the Redskins still struggled to keep pace with the Buffaloes and was outscored 19-11 in the period until James Fieser fired up a half court three at the buzzer that sailed through the net and cut Garden City’s halftime lead to 39-25.

A 14-0 run that began midway through the second half helped push Seward to a 95-77 win over the Barton Cougars at The Greenhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Seward (12-4, 7-3 KJCCC) moves back into a four-way tie for first place in the Jayhawk Conference alongside Butler, Dodge City and Independence with the 18-point win over Barton (10-7, 5-6).

Seward snapped a five-game losing streak against the Cougars as first-year head coach Austin Downing led the Saints to a win over his former boss and mentor, Jeremy Coombs, in front of a rowdy home crowd. The game saw four technical fouls, two from each team.

"Nothing but respect for the guys over there," said Downing. "At the end of the day it was all love. Coach Coombs and I talked a little bit before and after the game. He told me he was proud of me, and I have a lot of respect for him. I wouldn't be in this position if it weren't for him, and I wouldn't know the things I do if it weren't for him."
