Seward rallies for overtime win over Cowley, moves into first-place tie

ARKANSAS CITY – The Seward men trailed Cowley by double digits in the second half on Wednesday evening at W.S. Scott Auditorium but rallied to force overtime and eventually win, 91-83.
Seward (13-4, 8-3 KJCCC) now sits in a tie for first place in the Jayhawk Conference with Dodge City, who they travel to play Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Saints fell behind early as Cowley (11-6, 6-5) opened the game on an 8-0 run. The Tiger lead pushed to 13-5 and later 24-12 midway through the half.
A Quincey Kidd triple cut the lead to single digits, 27-19, and another Kidd three three minutes later brought Seward within six at 31-25 with 6:52 in the half. The teams exchanged buckets down the stretch but Cowley went to halftime holding a 45-35 lead. Seward shot just 33.3 percent and were outrebounded 17-11 in the first half.
