The Seymour Rogers Apache seventh took an early lead but couldn’t hold it in a 36-18 loss against Great Bend Thursday.
The Apaches opened scoring to take a 6-0 lead, but the Panthers responded to take an 8-6 lead.
The Apaches broke the kickoff return for a score to regain the lead 12-8, but the Apache defense struggled to stop Great Bend the rest of the way and fell 36-18.
The Lady Redskins volleyball team struggled in a quad at Hays Thursday.
Liberal fell to Hays, 25-16, 25-19, Salina South 25-15, 25-13 and Abilene 25-18, 25-13.
Liberal (4-16) will travel to Scott City Tuesday to face host Scott City and Holcomb.
Liberal High School Lady Redskin golf team hosted their home varsity and JV tournaments at Willow Tree Golf Course Monday with an all-WAC field. This was the only home event of the season for the Lady Redskins.
Brooke Savolt, a junior from Garden City, was the top medalist at this year's tournament.
Senior and Team Captain Adimaris Lopez posted another career low score with a 102 for a tie for 12th place. That score bettered her previous best score of 108 and was 14 strokes better than her performance last season at Willow Tree. Lopez currently sits at No. 13 in the All-WAC standings.
The girls tennis team competed in the Garden City Invitational tennis tournament and finished fourth overall.
Individual placers include:
No. 1 Singles - Evelin Tarango went 3-1 taking second
No. 2 Singles - Isabella Rodriguez Diaz would finish 3-1
DODGE CITY — The Redskins took advantage of four Dodge City turnovers and survived a late push by the Red Demons to move to 4-0 with a 33-21 win.
The Redskins found themselves trailing early after Dodge City only needed tow plays on its first drive of the game and broke a 53-yard run for a touchdown to go ahead 7-0.
Liberal followed with a scoring drive that ended with a 38-yard field goal by Natividad Ovalle to cut the lead to 7-3.
