Saints remain ranked despite upset at Colby

The week 10 NJCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Rankings were released on Tuesday afternoon and for a second consecutive week, the Saints are ranked.

Seward (14-6, 9-5) comes in at No. 25 this week, the last spot in the poll. That comes after the Saints entered the poll for the first time since 2019 last week at No. 19.

The Saints fall six spots after going 1-1 last week. They earned a gutsy 88-86 double-overtime win over Cloud County at home on Wednesday and suffered a 74-69 loss at Colby on Sunday. Seward currently sits in a three-way tie for second place in the Jayhawk with Dodge City and Independence.

Lady Saints softball picked eighth out of nine teams

The Seward County Community College softball team was picked to finish eighth in the 2026 Jayhawk Conference Division I Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Monday.

Seward was picked to finish eighth out of nine Division 1 teams, receiving 21 points. Butler was picked to win the league. Click here to read the full release from the conference.

19th-ranked Saints drop road tilt at Colby

The 19th-ranked Seward County men’s basketball team dropped a road contest, 74-69, at Colby Community College on Sunday evening.

The Saints (14-6, 9-5 KJCCC) entered the game tied for first place in the Jayhawk Conference and Colby (5-15, 3-11) was in last, but a tough shooting afternoon plagued Seward in the loss. Seward travels to take on Coffeyville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Saints shot just 37.5 percent (24-64) from the field while Colby shot 45.3 percent (24-53). The Saints were 11-21 (52.4 percent) from the charity stripe, and Colby was 17-27 (63.0 percent). Colby outrebounded Seward 32-27.

Colby sinks Lady Saints in overtime

The Seward County Lady Saints lost an overtime battle on the road at the Colby Event Center on Sunday afternoon, falling 74-67 to the Colby Trojans.

Seward (14-6, 9-5 KJCCC) looks to bounce back at Coffeyville on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Colby (11-9, 8-6) won its second straight game and its fifth out of six.

Seward trailed to start the game falling behind 8-0 but the Lady Saints used a 24-12 run to close the quarter and lead 24-20 after one. They took a 36-30 lead to halftime.

TURPIN, Okla.— Max Garza gave the Cardinals a major presence in the paint scoring 23 points on 9 of 15 shooting to help lift Turpin to a 54-44 win over their county rivals from Beaver.

A close match throughout the first half, Turpin took the lead for good when Jag Huffman hit his second three of the game with 6:29 left in the third quarter to break a 26-26 tie. It was the game’s fourth lead change to go with five ties. Huffman scored twice more in the quarter as did Garza. Turpin outscored Beaver 17-11 in the quarter and stretched the lead to double digits for the first time in the game.
