MEADE – Martin B. Reimer, 94, died Friday, July 24, 2026 at Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.

He was born May 7, 1932 to Jacob and Margaretha Reimer.

He was baptized June 15, 1947, at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, where he remained a member throughout his life. He served in many capacities, including as an usher, Sunday school teacher, Awana leader, Youth Leader, chairman of the board of trustees, and as a member of the church building addition committee.

ULYSSES – Kenneth Patterson Jr., 89, died July 19, 2026 in Hugoton. 

He was born June 18, 1937 to Norman Kenneth and Edith (Penka) Patterson.

He married Joann Spencer Dec. 13, 1959. She preceded him in death.

DOUGLAS HALE

Douglas Dean Hale, 72, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at OU Health Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

He was born Sept. 1, 1953 to Paul and Loree (Harnden) Hale. 

He graduated from Liberal High School in 1971 and went on to further his education at Seward County Community College, where he played as pitcher for the first Seward County Baseball Team and Fort Hays State University, where he earned his bachelor’s in science.

She was born Dec. 31, 1956 to Alvin Buford and Norma O'Dell (Gillespie) Clark.

She married Kenten  'Ken" Pavlicek March 16, 1973. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2022.

Peggy Lou Bell, 98, died Friday July 17, 2026 at Liberal Good Samaritan Nursing Home.  She was born Dec. 6, 1927 to Jude and Leone (Stokes) Gatewood.

She married Kenneth Paul Bell Nov. 25, 1948. He preceded her in death May 25, 1997.

She worked as a bookkeeper at First National Bank for 20 years before retiring in 1999.
