James Fieser scored 22 points in a 72-62 win against Southwestern heights Friday which was just enough to reach 1,000 points in his career.
Fieser added 20 more points against Great Bend Monday in an 83-61 loss.
“I picked up a leadership role my sophomore year,” Fieser said. “Being one of the only seniors that plays a lot, we have to pick the younger guys up. If we make a mistake we move on.”

After a close 62-56 victory against Southwestern Heights, the Lady Redskins traveled to Great Bend to start a three-game-in-four-days streak with a 49-31 win.
Liberal started off hot against the Lady Mustangs with a pair of three pointers from Kiley Rhine and another from Rubi Alvarez in the first quarter to help the Lady Redskins build a 15-8 lead.
But the Lady Mustangs picked up the pace in the second quarter thanks to 11 points from Katelyn Reiss who dropped two threes in the period.
The Lady Mustangs trimmed a point off the Lady Red lead by half, and Liberal led 32-26.

Ethan Diego cranked in four three pointers in the first half to help the Redskins build a 10-point lead, but another breakdown late led to another heartbreaking loss, this one in overtime to the Guymon Tigers, 77-70.
The Redskins fell behind 8-1 early, but the Redskins battled back to tie the game 14-14.
The Redskins continued to push forward to take a 28-18 lead. But the Tigers battled back and cut Liberal’s lead to 34-30 at half.
The Tigers continued to battle back, and the two teams kept the game within a score for most of the third quarter.

Sophomore guard Avery Marchino scored a career-high 38 points as the Seward County Lady Saints earned a 91-52 home win over the Independence Pirates on Wednesday evening at The Greenhouse.
Seward (18-9, 13-8 KJCCC) earned a 39-point win over the Pirates (5-21, 2-19) to complete the regular season series sweep after winning at Independence in January. Seward sits in fifth place in the KJCCC standings, just a half game back from fourth-place Coffeyville (13-7). The Lady Saints are off on Saturday before they travel to Great Bend to take on Barton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Marchino’s 38-point effort is tied for the fifth-most points scored in a game in program history. She also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists.

A stifling Hays defense coupled with a deadly outside shot left the Lady Redskins short in a 65-42 loss on Senior Night Friday in The Big House.
The loss dropped the Lady Redskins to the third seed in the Class 6A West standings.
Hays connected on four three pointers in the first quarter to help build a 19-12 lead and then hit another four threes in the second quarter while the Lady Redskins managed one from long range by Kylie Rhine. The Lady Redskins trailed 38-25 at halftime, with 24 of the 38 points for Hays coming from beyond the three point line.
The Lady Indians continued to drain outshots in the second half, hitting two more in the third quarter and four more in the fourth, and the Lady Redskins struggled to connect on shots in an attempt to rally.
Shamari Lewis had 16 points, and Rhine had nine in the loss.
