The Lady Red swim team traveled to Garden City Tuesday their first meet with all Western Athletic Conference teams present. With half the team gone, the Lady Redskins scored 59 points and finished fifth overall.
The Lady Redskin softball team dropped a pair of games at a split double header in Maize.
The Lady Redskins lost to Maize11-0 in five innings.
Zoey Torres pitched in the loss and allowed 11 runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out two. Only seven of the runs were earned because of four Lady Red errors.
In a commanding display, the Lady Redskin soccer team defeated Great Bend on the road with a 7-0 victory to complete the season sweep over the Western Athletic Conference opponent.
The Lady Red dominated the game with 24 shots on goal.
The scoring started early in the first half, with freshman Evelyn Tarango scoring in just over a minute into the game assisted by Jenavee Zuniga.
Senior Hailey Contreras then doubled the lead in the second minute, courtesy of a well-placed ball from junior Nicole Catalan.
The duo struck again in the 36th minute with Contreras capitalizing on Catalan’s delivery to find the back of the net completing the first half 3-0.
The Liberal Redskins traveled to Garden City Tuesday and earned a 14-1 run-rule win over the Buffaloes.
After scoring one run in the first tow innings, the bats came alive in the third for five runs before the Redskins added three more in the fourth. The Redskins scored five more in the fifth, and after holding the Buffaloes scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, the Redskins ended the game early with the 14-1 win.
Marco Alonso led the Redskins with three hits and four RBIs. Zayden Martinez and Broks Kappelmann each had two hits.
Kappelmann pitched all five innings allowing one unearned run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine.
Liberal (3-6) travels to Woodward Friday for a double header.
