Two members of Liberal Wrestling Club traveled to Ellis, KS for the annual Ellis Open tournament Saturday.
Easton Lopez, 6U, took first place in the 37 pound bracket. He had thre pins for the day with times of 2:25, 1:50 and as quick as 20 seconds.
Lopez also had a tech fall in 1:21, which was No. 6 for the fastest tech fall in the tournament.

Ari Gordon's go-ahead basket with seconds remaining lifted the Seward County Community College women's basketball team to a 52-50 victory at Garden City Community College Saturday.
The Lady Saints led all the way until the final minute of the game when the Broncbusters hit a three-pointer and took a 50-49 lead with 24 seconds remaining. It was Garden City's first lead of the game.

Despite a career game for Muhammed Jobe, the Seward County Community College men's basketball team was overmatched in a 71-52 loss at Garden City Community College Saturday.
The Saints, who extended their losing streak to seven games, fell to 1-11 in the Jayhawk Conference and 2-15 overall. Seward opens the second half of conference play against Cloud County at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenhouse.

Liberal Lady Redskins wrestlers secured fourth place with a team score of 149.5 at the Best of the West 2025 tournament highlighted by standout individual performances.
Keirsie Carlile placed second in her division, earning 18.5 points with dominant wins by fall and tech fall before losing in the finals.
Genesis Orrantia finished third and contributed 21 points, including multiple victories by fall and tech fall.

With matches coming down to the final seconds and scores being razor thin, the Lady Redskins battled the Hays Lady Indians on the mat in The Big House Tuesday and came up one point short, 40-39.
With the score so close, near falls became crucial, and weight match-ups also changed throughout the dual as each side had to balance their open classes.
Keirsie Carlile started the Lady Redskins off with a win, and the Lady Redskins started to build a lead in the lower weight classes.
But the middle weights started to fall to Hays and in the end, Liberal was one point short, 40-39.
