The Lady Saints kept pace near the top of the Jayhawk Conference standings with a 73-59 win over Northwest Tech while the Saints lost their 13th out of the last 14 games with a 64-56 loss.

The Lady Saints (17-8, 12-7) remained fifth out of 13 teams while the Saints (3-21, 2-17) remained in last place.

Seward hosts Colby Wednesday and won’t return home until March 1.

The Redskins and Lady Redskins traveled to Hays Friday and dropped both games.

The Lady Redskins fell 65-32. The loss dropped Liberal to 12-6 on the season and fifth in the Class 6A West standings. The Lady Redskins need to be in the top four to host the Sub State tournament.

Liberal has two games remaining, both in The Big House. Garden City comes to Liberal Feb. 25, and Dodge City will face the Lady Redskins Feb. 27.

The Redskins fell to 3-15 on the season with a 67-30 loss.

Liberal is 14th but can pass Garden City if the Redskins can knock off the Buffaloes Feb. 25. in The Big House.

TURPIN, Okla.— A huge offensive rebounding advantage and a couple of second half runs proved to be too much to overcome as the Turpin Cardinals fell to the Texhoma Red Devils 59-48 in the District 8 Championship game.

It was a back-and-forth contest that saw three ties and eight lead changes throughout the game. Turpin gained the early advantage, going up 16-9 late in the first quarter, but Texhoma scored eight straight to end the quarter up 17-16.

Seward County traveled to Barton County with seven active players on the roster, and the shorthanded Saints couldn’t keep pace with the Cougars in an 84-68 loss.

The Saints kept the game competitive but couldn’t make a significant run to overcome the Cougar lead.

The Saints trailed 38-27 at half and played even closer in the second half but still came up short 46-41.
